Shepherd’s Center “Adventures” Program Very Successful
Cannon Falls, MN – A crowd of over 120 people enjoyed ShepherdCenter’s first “Adventures in Learning” event for 2011. “As far as we can tell, this was the biggest turnout we’ve had,” said director Rod Johnson. “As reservations kept coming in, we made arrangements to hold the program upstairs, in the sanctuary of St. Ansgars Church.”
The program featured Loren Wolfe, the “Man in Black,” a Johnny Cash impersonator. His portion of the program included many of Johnny Cash’s songs, along with actual stories from Johnny and many anecdotes as well as history dialogue referring to him and his wife June’s storied history.
Also on the program, was GoodhueCounty Sheriff Scott McNurlin, “it’s the first time I’ve ever followed Johnny Cash,” commented the sheriff! Scott talked about the department and looked ahead to some of the things we may see in the future. He also introduced Linda Flanders, project director for the Elder Justice Network. Flanders passed out a new Elder Abuse Assessment Survey, which was filled out by many in attendance. The results of the survey will be compiled and distributed on March 1st.
After the program, lunch was served to all of those attending. “Adventures in Learning” is one of many programs offered through the Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley. It is held four times yearly, with the next event scheduled for April 29th at St. Ansgars Church. Featured in April, will be Michael Nelson, an accomplished and nationally renowned pianist, entertainer and recording artist who was raised in the Vasa area. He’ll perform his “Back to the 30’s and 40’s Show.” The other segment of Aprils program will be announced in the near future.
