Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley is proud to present nationally renowned pianist, entertainer, composer and recording artist Michael Nelson at their Adventures in Learning on Friday, April 29th at St. Ansgars Church. Nelson actually grew up in the Vasa area, and under the encouragement of his piano mentor, Archie Swenson, developed a true appreciation for acoustical instruments. His first performance was at age 11, when he performed at the Vasa Lutheran Church. After graduating from Minnesota State in Mankato, Nelson has literally traveled the world performing his music. At “Adventures in Learning,” Michael Nelson will feature “Talk of the Town,” a show featuring great hits from the 30’s and 40’s. You’ll no doubt enjoy such classics as Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Georgia on My Mind, Blue Moon, Misty, As Time Goes By, and Old Cape Cod just to mention a few. Nelson will take you down a musical road filled with great songs, movie scores and wonderful story telling. Shepherd’s Center will also feature a presentation from the Cannon Falls Hospital, centering on Cardiac Care. Katie Ingle, Jen Langdon and Cindy Gleason will present a very informative session on heart attack symptoms and general cardiac care. There will also be free blood pressure checks also available that day. “Adventures in Learning” is open to the public, and will take place on Friday, April 29th from 9:30 a.m. till noon. The event takes place at St. Ansgars Lutheran church, and the cost is only $6 which includes lunch. Those planning to attend are asked to reserve a spot by calling Shepherd’s Center at 507-263-2136. “Adventures in Learning” is held four times each year and is sponsored by Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley.
