On behalf of Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley, MERRY CHRISTMAS! You’ll soon be receiving in the mail the
“Feature,” our winter newsletter. This gives us a chance to let you know what types of events and activities have been taking place. We’ve been busy; in fact within the past six months alone, over 1000 area residents have taken part in the various activities offered through Shepherd’s Center. We operate strictly on donations from area residents and businesses’ and truly appreciate the support. When you open up your newsletter, you’ll find an envelope. If you so desire, this envelope can be used to make a 100% tax deductible donation to Shepherd’s Center.
A group of over 40 area residents returned after an exciting bus trip to Nashville, Tennessee. Among the highlights were the Grand Ol’ Opry, held at the historic Ryman auditorium…a tour of Barbara Mandrell’s former mansion, the “Fontanel,” the largest log cabin in the world…the Nashville Nightlife Dinner Theater that featured Tim Watson, and much, much more. Shepherd’s Center is looking forward to putting more trips together, and anyone with ideas on where to go is asked to contact us.
Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley is currently looking for a volunteer to handle the scheduling of rides for out-of-town medical appointments. Those needing rides would call our volunteer at home, and the volunteer dispatcher would then match one of our volunteer drivers with the person needing a ride. The volunteer dispatcher is needed immediately to help coordinate this very important service. If you enjoy visiting with people on the phone and assisting those who need rides, please consider volunteering.
On November 11th, Adventures in Learning featured a special “Salute to Veterans.” It was a wonderful program featuring SSG John Kriesel and local veteran Arnie Hjermstad. The dates for our 2012 Adventures in Learning are February 10, May 4, September 14 and November 9.
As the end of the year approaches, Shepherd’s Center is looking for new board members. If you are interested in serving on our board of directors, please contact us here at Shepherd’s Center at 507-263-2136.
Thank you for your donations in the month of November. We received donations in memory of the following; Herman Huisenga,
Lorraine Schmugge, Beatrice Johnson and Lucile Swenson.
